Produced and directed by Michelle Stein Teer, this is the story of 85 year-old Rody Wolff, who faces his memorie from the Holocaust during a visit to his German home. The film documents his trip, while examining some of the ways in which he and others from his town deal with their past, and handle issues of forgiveness and reconciliation. The sleepy town of Norden, Germany is about to celebrate its 750th Anniversary. As part of this commemoration, they will establish a monument in the local Jewish cemetery, to honor the memory of its Jewish residents who were murdered during the Holocaust. Invited to the installation is Rudy, along with others from the town, whos families had perished. Rudy bravely faces his mixed feelings about returning home. His father was murdered in Auschwitz, along with thorty other members of his family. He cannot explain how it is that, today, his best friend is a German pastor, who had been in his class growing up and served as an officer in the German army. The movie examines questions about how people deal with their past, as well as their ability to accept, understand and forgive.
