Green Card
A permanent residence visa is commonly referred to as Green Card.
This visa class entitles the holder to live and work in the United States of
America permanently. A green card allows its holder to live permanently in
the U.S.A. A green card holder is also eligible for work, health, education
and other benefits and rights. Green card holders may later apply for U.S.
citizenship and passport.
A green card can be obtained in one of these categories:
» Family based -
Provides the ability for non American family members to be reunited with
their relatives who are American citizens or lawful permanent residents.
» Employment based -
Provides the ability to obtain a green card through a job offer from a U.S.
employer, as either a priority or non-priority worker
» Investment based -
Provides the ability to obtain a green card through extensive investment
in the U.S.
» Asylum based -
Provides the ability for individuals who have suffered past persecution
and have fled based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion,
or membership in a particular social group in his/her home country, to
apply for a Green Card |
